Recycling the un-recycable

At Mia of Margate, we’re proud member of an amazing recycling company called Green Salon Collective. Whom recycle your hair, used colour tubes, foil and PPE.

Please note, there is a £1 ‘Green Fee’ added to each clients bill to allow this positive change. Green Salon Collective is a non-profit organisation and any profits made are used to plant trees or go towards these charities listed below:

  • Hair and Beauty Charity

  • Haircuts 4 Homeless

  • Food Cycle

Your hair

It’s crazy to think how many hair clippings end up at landfill. Your hair will be used for composting and creating ‘hair booms’ which are placed in the ocean in the event of oil spills, filtering the water, saving wildlife, sea life and the natural landscape!

Metals

We can now recycle our dirty foils and colour tubes, diverting them from landfill. So far they’ve recycled 2272.2kg, and the number is increasing rapidly.

Green salon collective hopes to gain enough aluminium foil and tubes from members to supply directly to producers, closing the loop on the material for our industry.

With every returns box (shown above), Green Salon Collective plant a tree to make up for the cardboard used.
